Elon Musk says Twitter Algorithms to go open source on March 31

Elon Musk has announced that the Twitter algorithm will finally become open source on March 31. This completes his previous announcement in February, where he initially talked about the systems becoming open source.
Musk's previous statement: “Prepare to be disappointed at first when our algorithm is made open source next week, but it will improve rapidly,”
Musk's new statement: "Twitter will open source all code used to recommend tweets on March 31st."
The Twitter CEO described the platform as "overly complex" and "not fully understood internally." Musk teased that there would be certain things that people would discover, which he called "silly," and that they would patch the issues spotted as soon as possible.
He also noted that the company is working on a way for them to be able to "serve more compelling tweets" in a simplified manner but that Twitter was still working on it. When Twitter's algorithm becomes open-sourced, this will fulfill what Jack Dorsey, co-founder and former Twitter CEO, had wished for.
Dorsey: “Twitter should have been developed as an open and verifiable protocol.”
In February, Twitter finally opened up the 4,000-character-long tweet feature for subscribers of Twitter Blue. This was a feature that Musk talked about earlier and is now finally being made available to the public.
This feature wouldn't take away the normal interface of Twitter. Instead, it would add an option for users to "see more" to view the whole tweet should it be longer than the regular length.
Elon Musk has also voiced out his thoughts recently regarding artificial intelligence. He joined others in calling for a pause in AI research for at least six months, especially for systems that were more powerful than GPT-4.
The researchers, along with Musk, said that "AI systems with human-competitive intelligence can pose profound risks to safety and humanity."
