China has said its Covid infections are 'predictable and under control'. However, China is likely seeing 1 million Covid cases and 5,000 deaths every day. They have stopped reporting their numbers globally.

Officially, there have been fewer than 10 Covid deaths since the beginning of December.

Only deaths caused by pneumonia and respiratory failure from Covid are now definitionally included, a leading Chinese medical expert said this week.

Recently, China ‘behind the curve’ in reporting Covid surge, WHO has said.

The Trump Administration did a similar ban on travellers from China in 2020, which was widely criticized.
