Volvo adopts to Tesla charging standard following Ford, GM, and Rivian

Volvo is following other EV makers to adopt the Tesla charging standard, making it easier for their products to use Tesla's charging stations. This comes as the company wants to make owning an electric car easier for its customers.
The move would give its EVs access to Tesla's 12,000 charging stations in North America. It was noted that the adoption of the Tesla-designed plugs would happen starting 2025.
Tesla calls its plugs the North American Charging Standard. Volvo CEO Jim Rowan gave a statement regarding the situation, saying this would be a key step into sustainable transportation.
Rowan: “We want to make life with an electric car as easy as possible... One major inhibitor to more people making the shift to electric driving — a key step in making transportation more sustainable — is access to easy and convenient charging infrastructure.”
Recently, Rivian also adopted the Tesla charging standard, saying it would be implemented on their R1T pickup and the R1S SUV. The company's timeline for switching would be in 2025, but in 2024, Rivian owners could already access the Tesla Supercharge network.
In February, the White House asked Elon Musk for its help regarding its planned EV charging station expansion despite Biden previously not mentioning Tesla regarding efforts.
