Walmart, $WMT, has increased prices up to 51% in response to Trump's tariffs

CNBC monitored the pricing of approximately 50 Walmart products and observed increases of up to 51% after the retail giant announced it would raise prices in response to President Donald Trump’s tariffs.

Over a span of seven weeks, CNBC tracked merchandise from categories like apparel, electronics, toys, and groceries at a Walmart store in Secaucus, New Jersey. Around a dozen products showed notable price hikes during the observation period.

Some of the goods that saw price increases are manufactured in countries impacted by U.S. tariff rates. CNBC emphasized, however, that in several cases, it’s unclear if the price hikes were directly caused by the tariffs or influenced by other cost-related factors.

Examples of notable increases include a 12-piece pots and pans set, which rose 51%, climbing from $99 to $149 between May and July 2025. A 3-in-1 travel system jumped 50%, from $199 to $299. On the other hand, prices didn’t rise across the board—Great Value brand eggs saw a 22% decrease, falling from $3.47 to $2.72.
