Hunter Biden Says Joe Biden's Cancer Has Spread To His Bones

Former President Joe Biden's prostate cancer has spread further since his 2025 diagnosis, according to his son Hunter Biden. In a Friday night appearance on the BBC show Newsnight, Hunter Biden told host Paddy O'Connell that his father's condition was “debilitating”.

Hunter said the cancer has metastasized into his father's bones and further, describing it as very painful and very debilitating, but added that he is still out there doing his thing.

In the wide-ranging BBC interview broadcast late Friday, Hunter Biden grew emotional as he discussed his father's condition, describing it as very sad to watch.

“The only thing that I'd say about my dad about his health right now is I wish he would complain more, because it's not good,” Hunter said.

Background on the diagnosis

Joe Biden's office announced in May 2025 that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had metastasized to the bone, after a small nodule was found in the former president's prostate during a routine physical exam.

The diagnosis at the time was Stage 4 and aggressive, with a Gleason score of 9, indicating both the cancer's aggressive nature and the potential that he had been living with it for years. Biden later underwent hormone therapy and radiation treatment, completing a course of radiation at Penn Medicine Radiation Oncology in Philadelphia in October 2025.

Family context

Hunter's remarks come after former first lady Jill Biden told NBC News in June that Joe Biden would live with cancer forever, saying that if he had just been diagnosed with prostate cancer that can be cured it would be one thing, but the fact that it metastasized to his bones makes it a whole different story.

Jill Biden also told ABC's “The View” in June that her husband keeps his schedule but has slowed down, adding that Stage 4 cancer at age 83 and the medications he is taking have made life a little more difficult these days.
